Trans-Pacific container shipping rates are increasing as the peak season begins. Shanghai-New York rates climbed 4% to $7,893 per 40ft, while Shanghai-Los Angeles rates rose 3% to $5,894 per 40ft. This surge is attributed to successful General Rate Increases (GRIs) by carriers and ongoing port congestion in Central and South China.
