TechnipFMC has secured a substantial integrated Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (iEPCI™) contract from Eni. This significant award is for the Maha deepwater project, located offshore Indonesia. This landmark initiative marks the inaugural deployment of TechnipFMC’s Subsea 2.0® technology within Indonesia. Furthermore, the contract includes establishing a new tieback to the existing Jangkrik Floating Production Unit (FPU).

The Maha Deepwater Project
Eni leads the Maha deepwater project, an important offshore development in Indonesian waters. This project aims to unlock significant hydrocarbon resources in the region. The deepwater environment presents unique engineering and operational challenges. Eni’s strategic investment underscores its commitment to expanding energy production in Southeast Asia.
TechnipFMC’s Integrated Scope
TechnipFMC will execute the full iEPCI™ scope for the Maha project. This integrated approach streamlines project delivery, combining engineering, procurement, construction, and installation phases. The company’s expertise in deepwater solutions will be critical for success. This comprehensive contract highlights TechnipFMC’s capability in managing complex subsea developments.
Introduction of Subsea 2.0® Technology
A key aspect of this contract involves the first application of TechnipFMC’s Subsea 2.0® technology in Indonesia. This advanced subsea architecture aims to reduce equipment size and complexity. Consequently, it offers enhanced efficiency and cost-effectiveness for deepwater operations. The technology also promises a smaller environmental footprint, benefiting the project’s sustainability goals.
Connecting to the Jangkrik FPU
The project also includes developing a new tieback to the operational Jangkrik FPU. This connection will integrate the Maha field’s production into existing infrastructure. Utilizing the Jangkrik FPU offers significant advantages, including reduced development costs and accelerated production timelines. This strategic tieback maximizes the efficiency of Eni’s offshore assets.
Regional Significance
This substantial project reinforces Indonesia’s position as a key player in the global deepwater energy sector. It demonstrates ongoing investment in advanced subsea technologies for resource development. The collaboration between Eni and TechnipFMC could set new benchmarks for future deepwater projects in the region. Indonesia’s energy future benefits from such strategic developments.
