Venture Global announced a significant energy agreement Tuesday. It finalized a 20-year sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Tokyo Gas, Japan’s capital city gas supplier. Under this deal, Venture Global will supply 1 million metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Deliveries begin in 2030.

This long-term contract strengthens energy ties. The SPA ensures a consistent LNG supply for Tokyo Gas. This commitment provides crucial energy security for the Japanese capital over two decades.
Supply Agreement Details
The agreement outlines a substantial commitment. Venture Global will provide 1 MTPA of LNG. This volume significantly contributes to Tokyo Gas’s energy portfolio. The 2030 start date allows ample preparation time, ensuring a smooth transition for the new supply.
Venture Global’s Expanding Market Role
This agreement marks a notable achievement. It represents Venture Global’s fourth long-term contract with a Japanese firm. This consistent engagement highlights the company’s growing influence in the East Asian energy market. Japan, a major energy consumer, relies heavily on LNG imports. Such long-term agreements are vital for its energy stability, helping meet industrial and residential demands.
Global energy companies increasingly seek long-term commitments to mitigate price volatility. This deal reflects the strategic importance of reliable international partnerships. It also cements Venture Global’s role in global LNG trade.
